Our Design-Build Process

1. The Initial Consultation

Our process begins with a complimentary consultation, where we take the time to understand your vision, goals, and specific needs. We’ll discuss key details, such as whether you have a lot secured, architectural plans in place, budget expectations, and timeline. 2. Design and Pricing

If you come to us with a design in hand, we begin collaborating with your architect and design team immediately. Our role is to provide early cost guidance, constructability input, and coordination to keep design decisions aligned with your budget and construction requirements.

If you are starting without a design, we guide the project from the earliest stages through feasibility, schematic design, and design development. We lead the process to ensure the design evolves with clear direction, defined priorities, and alignment between scope, budget, and construction.

Every project begins with a feasibility assessment to establish an initial budget range and confirm alignment with your goals. 3. Construction

Once your design is finalized and agreements are in place, construction begins with a clear, well-defined plan. Because key decisions have already been made during pre-construction, the building phase moves forward with greater clarity and fewer unknowns.

You’ll have access to your project schedule and updates through our client portal, allowing you to track progress, review selections, and stay informed throughout the process.

During construction, our team maintains consistent communication and active field oversight, coordinating trades, managing quality, and addressing details as they arise. This hands-on approach, combined with the earlier planning, allows construction to progress more efficiently and with fewer changes, delays, and surprises.

4. Finishing Touches

As construction nears completion, our team at J. Angelo Design Builds focuses on finishing the final details already defined during design. This includes millwork, finishes, and fixtures that have been selected, coordinated, and planned in advance.

Our design-build team completes detailed quality reviews to confirm that each element is installed correctly and aligned with the overall design intent. At this stage of the process, the focus is on precise implementation of the plan rather than decision-making.

Because materials and details have been fully considered earlier in the remodeling or building process, this phase proceeds with fewer adjustments and a high level of consistency throughout your project. 

5. Final Walkthrough and Move-In

Before we finish your custom home or remodel, we conduct a final walkthrough to review the project in detail and confirm that everything has been executed as planned. This is an opportunity to walk through the home together, address any remaining items, and ensure a smooth transition into move-in. Because decisions and details have been fully coordinated throughout the process, this stage is typically focused on confirmation rather than correction.
